Havana, April 9 (ACN) Oil and gas exploration were high on the agenda of local and foreign participants at the 11th Earth Sciences Conference, underway in Havana till Friday.
The topic is a priority at the event, given official programs aimed at progressively lower the dependence on costly fossil fuels, particularly to keep the Cuban power system in operations.
Geology and exploration of mineral reserves is another topic on the agenda due to the many open pit mines in the eastern Cuban municipality of Moa.
The event also considers the characterization and application of non-metal mineral raw material, technical mining services, environment-friendly mining, and workshops on the advances of Digital Geological Cartography in Cuba, underground waters and applied Geophysics.
