HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 1 (ACN) The Cuban Academy of Sciences (ACC) has a comprehensive projection and advisory work directly with the country's leadership, argued the institution in the awarding of the Carlos J. Finlay Order, among the six most outstanding microbiologists in history.
In the opinion of PhD Nancy Pavon Fuentes, secretary of the ACC, his consultative work on prioritized issues, which have contributed to the development of policies, strategies and identification of problems, stands out.
She recalls the fact that it has managed to position itself as the strongest in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean, considered as such by international experts.
It has even received multiple international recognitions, among them, those of the World Academy of Science, the L'Oreal Award, the International Association of Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and others.
ACC, in the person of its president, Luis Velazquez Perez received last March the medal with the effigy of the eminent researcher from the province of Camaguey, along with the Environmental Studies Center of Cienfuegos and the Advanced Technology Applications Center of the Ministry of the Interior.
The same was the case with 27 scientific personalities.
