CTBTO Executive Secretary continues his official visit to Cuba



 HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 1 (ACN) Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), is on his second day of his official visit to Cuba.

His presence in Havana responds to an invitation, which will conclude on Wednesday, from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma by its Spanish acronym) and with representatives of which he has already held his first exchanges.

Official information from the Cuban agency indicated that his program includes meetings with directors of institutions related to the implementation of the treaty in question, such as the Agency of Nuclear Energy and Advanced Technologies, as the headquarters of the National Data Center.

In addition, with those of the National Regulatory Authority, the National Center for Seismological Research (Santiago de Cuba), the National Center for Radiation Protection and Hygiene (Mayabeque), and the Institute of Meteorology.

Also, the National Civil Defense General Staff, the Higher Institute of Technologies and Applied Sciences, and will give a lecture to students of the Raul Roa Garcia Higher Institute of International Relations.

Although its main focus is on disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, CTBTO has developed technologies that have significant applications in the civilian sphere, according to Citma specialists.
