HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 28 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex by its Spanish acronym), received today at the Foreign Ministry headquarters Noemi Espinosa Madrid, secretary general of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), on her first official visit to Cuba since she took office on January 1, 2025.
According to the Minrex website, during the meeting the parties ratified their commitment to regional integration and the strengthening of political coordination, consultation and multilateral cooperation among Caribbean countries.
The meeting focused on the importance of coordinating joint efforts to materialize the founding mandates of the organization, with emphasis on boosting key areas such as intra-regional trade, interconnectivity and sustainable tourism.
Advances in subregional environmental projects were highlighted, in particular Cuba's contribution to the Sandy Coasts Project, focused on the recovery of beaches and the protection of coastal ecosystems.
Both parties agreed on the need to prioritize issues such as the mobilization of climate funds, food security and the strengthening of South-South partnerships, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
