HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 26 (ACN) The Government of Türkiye donated Cuba 17 kits of compact photovoltaic solar modules―made up of power generators, solar panels and batteries―to benefit the power supply system in the provinces of Guantanamo and Artemisa.
Vehbi Esgel Etensel, ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Cuba, remarked that the donation is intended to help the victims of hurricanes Oscar and Rafael and of two earthquakes that caused great damage in these provinces in October and November 2024 and said that the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) granted USD 20,000 to purchase the equipment for Cuba.
On his end, Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, thanked Türkiye on behalf of the Cuban government and people for this noble gesture and pointed out that the modules will help the country in its efforts to transform the energy matrix and increase people’s safety in the face of extreme weather events.
