HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 26 (ACN) On Tuesday 25, as part of the celebration of the 122nd anniversary of the birth of Julio Antonio Mella, Cuba held in this city the Festival "Mella siempre anti-imperialista", an anti-fascist event intended to denounce the U.S. policies of economic aggression, smear campaigns and attempts to undermine Cuban sovereignty, in addition to its attacks against other countries.
The participants also voiced their solidarity with the cause of the Palestinian people, demanded the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba, and discussed the island’s bonds of brotherhood with Venezuela.
Rachel Torres Marrero, an official with the Department of International Relations of the Young Communist League (UJC), referred to the excuses recently argued by Washington to arrest and expel U.S.-based Venezuelans and justify its aggressiveness against the peoples of Our America.
She read the Declaration of the Cuban Chapter of the Antifascist International, which stresses the need to step up the protection of the human rights of Venezuelan migrants and to join hands in defense of the revolution.
The event extolled Mella’s personality as a young revolutionary who died for supporting the ideal of independence, aware that silence is complicity and that indifference is the worst of evils, and made a public denunciation of the U.S. policy of manipulation.
