Chinese Ambassador Stresses Bonds of Friendship with Cuba

 

Havana, March 24 (ACN) China’s ambassador to Cuba Hua Xin ratified in the easternmost province of Guantanamo the long-lasting bonds of friendship between his country and Cuba, which mark the 65th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations this year.
Hua Xin and his delegation were welcomed by Communist Party leader in Guantanamo Yoel Perez and by Provincial Governor Alis Azahares.

During the meeting, the Chinese diplomat was briefed about the local portfolio of business opportunities.

The ambassador was interested in the characteristics of local coffee production, the timber output in the province and the setting up of solar parks. Two solar parks were recently set up in the province with a 21.8 megawatt output, as part of the Cuban government’s program to progressively change the country’s energy matrix.

Hua Xin referred to China’s support of Cuba’s efforts to recover its national power system. He recalled the donation of parts and accessories for power generation clusters deployed in different parts of the country, providing what is called distributed energy.

This assistance, which has now handed in two shipments, will help recover the output of some 400 megawatts in the over 70 power clusters burning fuel oil and diesel, said the ambassador.
