BAYAMO, Cuba, Mar 21 (ACN) The Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdes Menendez, deputy prime minister of Cuba, opened today the photovoltaic solar park "La Sabana", with 21.8 megawatts capacity to generate clean energy to the National Electric System.
After some 14 months of hard work in the construction, assembly, testing and commissioning phases, the site, located about three kilometers from this city, is the first to be completed, among the four investments of its kind that are being executed in the eastern province of Granma.
Valdes Menendez was accompanied by the Cuban Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de La O Levy, and the highest political and governmental authorities of the territory.
Yudelkis Ortiz Barcelo, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Granma, congratulated the Chinese specialists and all the workers of the more than 20 companies that worked on the strategic installation.
She stressed the importance of the photovoltaic solar parks in the projection of changing the country's energy matrix, to replace the generation of electricity from the consumption of fossil fuels with renewable sources.
