Diaz-Canel visits Cuban western province of Mayabeque



 HAVANA, Cuba, March 21 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, visited today the western province of Mayabeque.

Diaz-Canel began his tour in the municipality of Quivican, an agricultural territory located in the south of the province, about 40 kilometers from Havana, the Presidency reported on X.

The President praised the efforts of the skilled workforce in difficult times, the organization, and the beauty of the Comandante Manuel Piti Fajardo sugar mill and the batey.

He emphasized that the sugar mill, which is not producing sugar this harvest, has not stopped operating and is beginning to produce molasses and other derivatives, while also generating electricity for the National Electric System.

In this municipality, he also visited the Rubio Tobacco Drying Company "La Salud."

Cuban head of state later arrived in Bejucal, where he toured the Palacio de la Música, according to a post on X account of Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the PCC Central Committee.

Morales Ojeda recalled that the site was severely damaged by hurricane Rafael in November 2024, and was quickly repaired.

Upon leaving, we spoke with the residents of Bejucal who were waiting there in the downtown park Maceo-Gomez, he added.

Afterward, the president went to the Jose Marti Credit and Services Cooperative and the National Center for Biopreparations, where he spoke with their workers about their efforts to continue producing products for domestic consumption and export.
