HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 17 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, attends today the opening of the 4th International Colloquium Patria at the monument to the student leader Julio Antonio Mella, in Havana.
Cuban leader is accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC, and representatives of the Young Communist League, the Federation of University Students, the Institute of Information and Social Communication and the Cuban Journalists Association are also participating.
With the theme "We are peoples weaving networks" and to serve as a platform for leftist political communication, the event is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the multi-state channel Telesur, founded by Commanders Fidel Castro Ruz and Hugo Chavez Frias, as well as the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Communication of the University of Havana.
Some 500 guests from 50 countries will be invited to discuss topics such as the role of technology in popular resistance and social emancipation, disinformation and digital manipulation, cognitive warfare, social networks, technopolitics, digital education, artificial intelligence and digital sovereignty.
Successful communication projects and experiences of technologies from the global South will also be presented.
The 4th International Colloquium Patria will conclude on March 19.
