Havana, March 6 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced Washington’s double standard in addressing illegal migration after applying a selective policy for Cuban migrants.
Minister Rodriguez referred on X to the tough measures enforced by Washington to stop illegal migration from countries of this part of the world, while applying a different policy in the case of Cubans.
He said that US State Secretary Marco Rubio backs measures promoting illegal migration. Rubio—he said—supports the US economic war against Cuba and the prevalence of the Cuban Adjustment Act, which grants a differentiated treatment to Cuban migrants by admitting them into US territory automatically disregarding the way or means used to get to the United States, including illegal ways.
The Cuban government has insisted in the need to strictly meet the January 12, 2017 Cuba-US joint declaration on migration issues, to prevent irregular migration and illegal departures from Cuba.
