HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 4 (ACN) An appeal was made during the annual review meeting of the Ministry of Communications (MINCOM), attended by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, to raise the culture of Artificial Intelligence with a view to its responsible use.
Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz stressed the importance of the training and qualification of human resources, as well as the need to reduce the number of silent zones, to develop logistics and digital transformation processes, and to boost Industry 4.0-related technology despite pressing problems such as the lack of foreign currency in this field.
Mayra Arevich Marín, Minister of Communications, referred to the impact of technology on the economy and on people’s well-being and, therefore, the need that MINCOM should work with rigor, professionalism, dedication and commitment to undertake new projects such as the improvement of connectivity and mobile telephony and the beginning of 5G technology trials, among other programs.
She also commended MINCOM’s results in 2024, marked by a rise in the number of cell phone lines, households with Internet access, and new agreements with Russia and China in the context of the International Convention and Fair “Informática 2024”.
