Cuban foreign ministry reaffirms commitment to foreign policy principles



 HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 4 (ACN) With the presence of Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, the annual assessment meeting of the foreign affairs ministry (Minrex by its Spanish acronym) was held on Monday.
As reported by the Presidency on its website, those present reaffirmed their loyalty to the principles of the foreign policy of the Cuban Revolution and the commitment to the diplomacy of its people.

The President stressed the importance of taking into account the current historical and heroic times, as generations that are part of the revolutionary process, and to assume it with responsibility, focused on the act of giving everything to preserve the Revolution and to continue advancing in the socialist construction.

Diaz-Canel called to face the moment we are living in an intelligent, creative and victorious way, bearing in mind that if there is an organization that has a tremendous task in the vindication of Cuba, every day, every hour, it is the MINREX.

The head of state emphasized issues that should be of permanent attention for the Foreign Ministry, in the midst of a global scenario marked by growing geopolitical tensions and the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States.

He stressed the importance of strengthening the fight against fascism at the international level; strengthening Cuba's ties with its emigration; continuing to foster international debates that promote political consensus, as well as tirelessly defending the solidarity and unity of the Latin American left.

For his part, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban foreign minister, discussed the main challenges and priorities facing the organization in 2025, a year in which the Government Program to correct distortions and relaunch the economy will continue to guide its work, with emphasis on the fight against the blockade policy.

Emphasis was placed on aspects related to the role of the foreign ministry in the country's economic diplomacy; the importance of continuing to transform and perfect the work systems within the organization; the strengthening of Cuba's role as a reference point for progressive political forces, as well as the will to continue fostering ties with Cubans living abroad.

Ana Teresita Gonzalez Fraga, director general of the Directorate of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Living Abroad, stressed that in 2025 Cuba will continue to strengthen ties with its compatriots living in other parts of the world.

Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of Cuba, in making the conclusions of the meeting, emphasized the need to take advantage of all the potentialities and work together to continue strengthening economic and commercial exchanges with foreign countries and thus contribute to overcoming the many obstacles imposed by the current international situation.
