Cuban President Thanks Diplomatic Corps Support of the Island



Havana, Feb 19 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of Cuba’s Communist Party Central Committee and President of the Republic of Cuba thanked the diplomatic corps accredited in the country for their support as he acknowledged the work carried out by the diplomatic missions to keep strengthening relations with Cuba.

On his X account, Diaz-Canel referred to his meeting on Tuesday with over one hundred diplomats at Havana’s Revolution Palace. He reiterated the ambassadors the Cuban government support of their missions here.

Despite Washington’s top pressure on the Caribbean nation, Cubans keep committed to build a more prosperous society under the principles of socialism. He particularly referred to the support given by the international community to the Cuban resolution submitted to the vote of the UN General Assembly each year demanding the end of the US blockade.

Diaz-Canel called 2025 a year posing many challenges and noted that the Cuban government has drawn up an economic strategy to overcome the adverse scenario.

In periods like this one we believe that we can keep enhancing cooperation, and we can jointly find new areas, new fields, to share projects to our mutual benefit, the Cuban head of state noted.

The Cuban President ratified before the diplomats the Cuban Revolution’s foreign policy convictions: “we will defend multilateralism, mutual respect, friendship and solidarity among peoples and governments, non-interference in the internal affairs of the countries and respect for self-determination.”
