Havana, Feb 18 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez sent messages of congratulations to their Gambian counterparts on the 60th anniversary of the independence of that African nation and stressing its commitment to its own sovereign development and the strengthening of African unity.
Cuban diplomats in Gambia attended commemorations for the historical date and affirmed the tight bonds between the two nations.
Since bilateral relations were established in 1974, Cuba and Gambia have maintained important cooperation in healthcare and education.
On February 18, 1965, the Republic of Gambia conquered its independence after over one century of colonial rule. The country kicked off a new stage of self-determination and sovereignty.
