HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 14 (ACN) At the 5th National Press Festival held in Havana, both in person and virtually, the National Awards for Journalistic Innovation were given to national and provincial media for their contributions to the country's difficult circumstances.
After analyzing the proposals presented and the basis of the projects of the organizations that participated in this edition of the event, the jury decided that the winners were the Cuban News Agency, the platform Ideas Multimedios, the Escambray Publishing House, the Abril Publishing House, the Radio Sancti Spiritus radio station, and the Vanguardia Publishing House as the best academic work that contributes to the press model.
The Innovation Award for the Faculty of Communication was also granted to Ideas Multimedios, because it is not only limited to the creation of innovative formats in its contents, but it is also an integral strategic process that permeates all areas of the organization, in the search for disruptive solutions to existing challenges.
Ana Teresa Badia Valdes, journalist of Radio Rebelde and professor at the Faculty of Communication of the University of Havana, explained that the projects and communicative works received show that journalistic innovation has strongly emerged in the digital era, to the extent that the interests of audiences change.
Badia Valdes emphasized the need for collaboration between journalists and technology developers, as it is another tool that has given rise to valuable innovative proposals in the verification of facts and the fight against disinformation, as well as the various specialized platforms and new algorithms used to detect fake news and provide readers with accurate and reliable information.
The recognized media make science and innovation a strategic process that transversalizes the work in each of the areas to seek solutions to problems, in addition to demonstrating in practice that a new professional and organizational culture is consolidated in the work of journalists, social communicators, designers and other editorial actors involved in the construction and enrichment of communication products.
