Authorities urge Cuban customs to make improvements



HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 11 (ACN) Authorities attending the annual review meeting of the General Customs Administration of the Republic, including Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, urged the entity to work harder and brace for potential attacks from the U.S. now that the current situation is bound to get worse with the tougher stance taken against the island by the new Trump administration.

Marrero Cruz remarked that Customs is focused on priorities attuned to the Government Program to correct distortions and revitalize the economy and exhorted the attendees to have recourse to the new technologies and particularly AI to keep protecting Cuban society, together with the Ministry of the Interior, from crimes such as the unlawful introduction of dangerous substances and drugs, terrorist acts, and imperialist interference.

The Customs Administration’s plans for 2025 feature actions to streamline management practices, improve cybersecurity, and keep fighting crime for the benefit of national development.
