Havana, Feb 7 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel described the seizure of a Venezuelan plane by the US administration as an act of modern piracy.
The Cuban President and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba noted on X (https://x.com/DiazCanelB/status/1887953898037453144 ) that with this act, Washington ratifies its disrespect for International Law and once again reveals its commitment to the Monroe Doctrine—a neocolonial domination tool adopted by the US in 1823.
The Venezuelan plane was officially seized on Thursday as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was visiting the Dominican Republic, where the planes had been stationed since early 2024 for maintenance.
The plane, retained last year by Dominican Republic authorities, is a Dassault Falcon 2000 EX, with registration YV3360, stationed at the hangars of Santo Domingo waiting to be in conditions to fly to the United States.
According to the US State Department, Venezuelan officials used the aircraft in violation of US sanctions on the South American nation. https://bit.ly/4hsaAvj
