HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 7 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, continued today his tour of the country's municipalities in Bolivia, in the central province of Ciego de Avila.
Accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, the President arrived in Bolivia Agroindustrial Municipal Enterprise, created in September 2023 and which focuses its activities on the production and sale of food to the population, reported the Presidency on X.
According to the President, the sowing, harvesting, processing and commercialization of rice has a fundamental weight in the institution, having as a goal for 2025 to sow more than two thousand hectares and harvest 5,771 tons of the cereal.
If the goal is reached, they will become the first municipality in the province to guarantee the totality of the rice of the standard family basket to its inhabitants, which means a saving of more than 356,000 dollars.
The president also visited the company's rice mill and dryer, a modern facility that contributes to optimize the processing of the cereal.
Diaz-Canel exchanged with the people of Bolivia and praised the performance of the Municipal Agroindustrial Enterprise, which will allow the territory to be self-sufficient in the near future of an important group of foodstuffs.
With an area of 892 square kilometers and more than 15,000 inhabitants, this municipality, located in the northeast of the province, focuses its economic activity on agriculture, mainly rice production, although fishing is also important.
After visiting Bolivia, the President went to Primero de Enero, another of the territories located in the northeast of the province, with almost 30,000 inhabitants.
The head of state began his tour of the Jose Agustin Mas Naranjo polyclinic, which serves more than 21,000 patients.
It was explained that the center maintains zero infant and maternal mortality so far this year and carries out a strong community work with teenage girls and young women.
Diaz-Canel went to the Dos Palmas Motel, a remodeled facility with 24 rooms, the only one with these characteristics in the province, and has areas for gastronomy, souvenir sales and a swimming pool.
This is the seventh visit of the president to Ciego de Avila since the beginning of these tours, which allow him to see on the scene the efforts of each municipality to face the great challenges imposed by the current complex panorama.
