HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 2 (ACN) Political Bureau member Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and of the Council of State, met on Saturday with a delegation of deputies of the National Assembly of the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela who traveled to Cuba to participate in the Parliamentary Forum for Peace with Sovereignty and Democracy.
"It is with great pride and deep affection that we welcome you at the institutional headquarters of the National Assembly of People's Power", Lazo told his guests at the beginning of their friendly and fruitful meeting.
He highlighted the historical relations that unite both nations and made reference to the Apostle of Cuban independence, who felt like another son of Bolivar's Homeland, and to the close bond formed by Fidel and Hugo Chavez, among other great episodes revealing of brotherhood between the two peoples.
Lazo Hernández also advocated strengthening their relations based on initiatives such as the systematic joint work of the parliamentary friendship groups, meetings between the permanent working committees of both legislative bodies, and the development of stronger political communication at the level of the two bodies, among other actions.
