HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 21 (ACN) Cuban university students ratified that their preparedness responds to a fundamental sense of duty to defend the Homeland.
Based on this premise, the student body of the University of Computer Science (UCI) took part in the exercise University Student Bastion organized in the province of Artemisa and carried out in the presence of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the National Defense Council.
Ricardo Rodríguez González, national president of the Federation of University Students (FEU), said that this Bastion is highly significant inasmuch as it reveals that Cuban youth is not afraid to take on this kind of challenge, especially now that Donald Trump has just become president of the United States and his decision to revoke Cuba’s removal from the infamous list of state sponsors of terrorism.
“Preparing for defense is the best response our youth can give to the Republican president and to those who, like his predecessor Joe Biden, chose to include us on a list in which we should never have been”, he said.
In statements to the media, Col. Enrique Samuel Cuñado Carballo of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) remarked that this exercise, carried out in all Cuban universities, is intended to train and ratify the fortitude of our students, who have always played a role in all stages of the revolutionary process.
