HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 21 (ACN) In a post on X assuring that Cuba is not alone, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla thanked the Party, Government and people of China for sending a donation in solidarity that will contribute to the recovery of the National Electric System (SEN) in the context of the project Equipment and Spare Parts for Cuba’s Distributed Generation System, agreed between Presidents Miguel Díaz-Canel and Xi Jinping.
At a ceremony to deliver the donations―69 tons worth of radiators, engines and other accessories―Chinese ambassador Hua Xin said that they are part of a second package of assistance provided by China to help restore Cuba’s capacity to generate some 400 MW in more than 70 diesel and fuel oil power plants nationwide.
On her end, Cuba’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Déborah Rivas Saavedra, thanked the People’s Republic on behalf of the Cuban government and people for its support and remarked that these donations are a major boost for the island’s power grid and will benefit 53,200 homes.
