HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 20 (ACN) Osbert Richard Frederick, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Antigua and Barbuda, and Sergio Martinez Gonzalez, Cuban ambassador to the Caribbean island, held talks today on the interest of strengthening ties and collaboration between the parliaments of the two countries.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat delivered congratulatory messages sent by Esteban Lazo Hernandez, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State of Cuba, and Aylin Justiz Aguila, president of the Cuba-Antigua and Barbuda Parliamentary Friendship Group, the Cuban foreign ministry informed on its website.
In the exchange, the highest official of the Antiguan Chamber, conveyed to the Cuban ambassador a message of solidarity and unconditional support of that legislative body to the battle that the Cuban people have been facing for more than 60 years against the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government.
He thanked the solidarity work that Cuban collaborators in Antigua and Barbuda have carried out for years, especially in support of the country's public health system, highlighting the fundamental role of collaboration in the positive levels of care and quality of health services that the people of Antigua and Barbuda are currently receiving.
