HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 20 (ACN) Tourists visiting Cuba can access an official site to obtain an electronic visa, a procedure that speeds up the process and allows them to fill out the online traveler's form from the comfort of their homes.
Giana Galindo Enriquez, commercial director of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), explained to the press that as of June 30, the tourist card will disappear, which since July 2024 has been replaced by the electronic visa, and this will be the way to enter the country.
The directive pointed out the advantages of this modality and also informed that at the request of many tourists, the temporary cell phone lines, a product of CubaCel Tur, can be obtained for seven days and not for 30 as they were enabled until now, since it was taken into account that the average stay of a visitor on the island ranges between five and six days.
Canada remains on the list of the main issuing market with 39 % of the visitors, and one of the main features of the year that recently concluded was the diversification of markets, with growth of China, Russia, Portugal, Brazil, Peru and Türkiye, the latter committed to surpass the market record.
Mintur specialist reiterated that Cuba continues to be a competitive destination in the Caribbean region, not only for its beaches, but also for its historical, cultural and patrimonial values, the hospitality of the people, their kindness and joy.
The directive recalled the difficult scenario in which tourism developed in 2024, due to the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the U.S. government on the island, including financial persecution, pressure on tour operators, airlines and investors who opt for Cuba.
