Cuban ministries to award today the National Innovation Prizes



 HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 17 (ACN) The National Awards for Innovation and Recognition of Innovation for Local Development will be presented today at the closing day of the Innovation for Development Fair, which is being held at the Havana Convention Center.

As part of the program of activities that will take place this Friday, there will be a workshop on the use of Artificial Intelligence, presentations on innovations in different strategic sectors and a forum for sustainable development.

Adianez Taboada Zamora, vice minister of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma by its Spanish acronym); Mayra Arevich Marín, head of the Ministry of Communications, and Alfredo Garcia Jimenez, vice president of the Agency of Social and Humanistic Sciences of Citma, are expected to attend the event.

On Thursday, the Science and Innovation based Government Management System was discussed and results and innovative solutions in different sectors of the country were presented.

Since January 15, the Innovation for Development Fair has been hosting 50 stands and around 120 exhibitors in areas related to health, biotechnology, information technology, tourism and integrated transportation logistics, education, culture and food production.

The event is part of a base process with the realization of innovation fairs in the municipalities and provinces of the country, where the role of science, technology and innovation is considered a pillar for sustainable development.
