Diaz Canel tours Cuban province to check on work done

 ARTEMISA, Cuba, Jan 17 (ACN) Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC) and president of the country, on Thursday praised the value of Artemisa's pig farmers, social advances and insisted on the defense of the Revolution as a priority.

In a tour and later exchange with the authorities of the western province and the capital municipality, he verified the effort in the Genetic Base Business Unit (UEB) San Pedro, belonging to the Pork Genetics Company, for the conservation of the dark coat or Creole pig, in this unit in the final stretch of an investment process that will allow it to have 500 reproducers.

Juan Carlos Hernandez Trujillo, director of the UEB, explained that in 2024 they leased about two caballerias of land adjacent to the entity, whose production, aimed at self-sufficiency, will also allow them to reduce the debts with the bank, due to the credit for the execution of the works.
He specified that the structure of the unit was not damaged by hurricane Rafael, but the agricultural area was, and work has not ceased.

The President valued as meritorious the results of the UEB, which shows that the current problems can be overcome with effort, innovation and science.

Cuban President also visited the UEB Tomas Alvarez Breto, of the Artemisa Construction Materials Company, which was almost paralyzed by the damages caused by Hurricane Rafael.

Rolando Vargas Vidal, director of the company, explained that this week they should receive about 4,000 sheets for the recovery of the roofs, which will begin in the workshops, while the production of its three UEBs will be destined to the victims of the hurricane.

The governor of Artemisa, Ricardo Concepcion Rodriguez, highlighted that the entity has a factory of lightened clay blocks and rasillas, in San Cristobal, a strength for the recovery of the Artemisa housing fund.

Diaz Canel underscored the validity of the strategy adopted in the Tomas Alvarez Breto factory, which avoided labor interruption and guarantees the continuity of some productions, such as floor elements

He also expressed his satisfaction with the recovery of the hospital, the efforts of its workers and the quality of the recovery.
In the plenary session, Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the CCPCC, pointed out, among the challenges of the Artemisa organization, the transformation of the internal life of the Party, since the municipality is decreasing in the militancy of the PCC and the Young Communist League.
Meanwhile, the first secretary of the CCPCC emphasized that the priority is to defend the Revolution, especially from the threats of an aggressive and conservative government, from which we can expect a resurgence of hostility.
