New book highlights Fidel's role on different fronts

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 8 (ACN) To commemorate the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution and the arrival of the Commander in Chief in Havana, the book Conversando sobre Fidel [Talking about Fidel], by Dayan González Ramírez, was presented at the Fidel Castro Ruz Center in the capital city as part of a ceremony attended by the author, the publishing houses Verde Olivo and Abril, the personalities interviewed for the book, and other guests.

González Ramírez pointed out that the idea for Conversando… came from his PhD in Journalism, namely a documentary film on the Cuban Federation of University Students (FEU), an important source of testimonies presented in the book which show Fidel’s major impact on both Cuban society and the interviewees themselves, whose accounts describe the Commander in Chief’s permanent concern for everything about the country and reveal the considerable trust that he placed in Cuban youth.

Lt Col Ana Dayamí Montero Díaz, chief editor of the journal Verde Olivo, said that the text contains unforgettable memories and anecdotes of Fidel and the Cuban revolutionary process that young people should learn about.

In statements to ACN, Nestor del Prado Arza, one of the interviewees and past president of the FEU (1971-1973) said that the best way to pay tribute to a man like Fidel is to study his life and work and make them part of today's Cuba.
