Cuban authorities salute anniversary of the National Police

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 5 (ACN) In a post on X, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez congratulated the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) on its 65th anniversary.

Established on January 5, 1959 at the initiative of then Commander Raúl Castro, chief of the Second Eastern Front Frank País García, the PNR was entrusted with the maintenance of law and order, public peace, and road safety.

In his message, Díaz-Canel hailed the members of this institution, whose history, he wrote, is that of the Cuban Revolution and its challenges and victories, and remarked that the PNR, born of the Rebel Army, boasts more than six decades of experience in the protection of the citizens’ tranquility.

In a separate message, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz also praised the work of the PNR’s combatants, whom he described as heroes in blue and keepers of the nation’s peace.
