PINAR DEL RÍO, Cuba, Jan 1 (ACN) The province of Pinar del Río is home to the first integral logistics center of the Ministry of Agriculture in Cuba, designed to bring producers closer to agricultural consumables.
“The idea is to cover all agricultural regions in the country as part of the measures to eliminate distortions and boost the economy,” said Wilson Ramirez Peña, president of the Logistics Business Group of the Ministry of Agriculture (GELMA). “It’s an alternative to get the main consumables required and increase production, since here they can find essentials such as fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, tires, batteries, containers, etc.”
The official stressed that GELMA has gone from having several links in the supply chain to working as importers, marketers and sellers.
The new center is the first of 26 similar ones bound to be open in the first half of the current year.
