Díaz-Canel presided over ceremony in remembrance of Antonio Maceo

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 8 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel presided over the political and military memorial commemorating the 128th anniversary of the fall in combat of Major General and Lieutenant General Antonio Maceo Grajales and his aide Panchito Gómez Toro, the 35th anniversary of Operation Tribute, and the 90th anniversary of the birth of revolutionary fighter Frank País.

Joining him at the ceremony were government, military and party leaders, as well as former members of the Rebel Army and the clandestine struggle, internationalist combatants, and relatives of fighters fallen in the line of duty.

In a post on X, Díaz-Canel referred to the occasion as “a very meaningful day for the Homeland, marked by the evocation of Maceo and Frank, as well as of our combatants fallen in internationalist missions whose remains were brought to their country 35 years ago as part of Operation Tribute and who have our full respect and admiration.”
