Havana, Nov 27 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel announced in the south-central province of Cienfuegos the implementation of solar energy projects, whose power output will surpass two thousand megawatts, in an effort to begin reducing the island’s dependence on fossil fuels.
During a meeting with locals in Cienfuegos, the head of state said that the south-Havana, Nov 27 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel announced in the south-central provicentral province is the seat of three solar parks, and that the country will count on a 200-megawatt power input from solar energy as of next April.
Addressing the recent US presidential elections, Diaz-Canel said that Cuba keeps firm in developing its socialist project and is willing to dialog with the United States on equal grounds. He said that the results of the recent elections in the US were an expected scenario.
Two US presidential mandates of different parties have maintained the same hostile policy towards Cuba, said the President and recalled that such policy has prevailed during all the past years of the Cuban Revolution.
As a consequence of the US blockade, Cuba has undergone shortage of food and medicines, but the country is determined to keep advancing through what he called “creative resistance.” This does not only mean resisting only, but also creating, just as Cubans faced the COVID-19 pandemic, by creating vaccines that saved human lives.
