HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 17 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel toured Old Havana on Saturday in the context of the 505th anniversary of the Villa San Cristóbal de La Habana.
The leader learned about the efforts currently under way, thanks to funds donated by Spanish institutions, to alleviate the evacuation of liquid waste in five of the city’s municipalities, including the installation of floodgates and valves and the repair of the automatic cleaning system.
The head of state visited other facilities of the old section of the city salvaged by the Office of the Historian of Havana with the support of the Saudi Fund for Development, as well as communities and people’s councils where he talked with youth and students brigades and workers of state institutions engaged in sanitation tasks in areas where the recent hurricanes caused great damage.
“[Our people] have proved that anything is possible, and now we have to gradually heal the wounds of this beautiful city”, he remarked.
