HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 13 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel received Lieutenant General Alexander Vyacheslavovich Kurenkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergency Situations and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters, whom he thanked for his country’s permanent assistance to the island in the face of emergencies.
In a post on X, the Cuban leader described the meeting as fruitful and stressed that both parties agreed to keep consolidating cooperation in this field.
On his end, the Russian official said he was happy to be in Havana in response to an invitation issued by Cuba's Minister of the Interior, Major General Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas, and to have met with the Cuban president, who made room in his busy agenda to welcome him despite the complex circumstances in the country these days.
During the day, Kurenkov handed over to Álvarez Casas the certificate endorsing a donation of eight firefighting motorcycles, water filters and sanitary bags to Cuba, which were delivered to the Cuban-Russian Regional Training Center for Rescue and Firefighting Operations (CRESB) in Havana.
