ELAM, a bridge of solidarity and love in the world



HAVANA, Cuba, November 13 (ACN) The Latin American Medical School (ELAM) is an educational and social project and a bridge of solidarity and love in the world where more than 31,000 doctors from more than 120 countries have been qualified, said ELAM rector Yoanka Muro Valle.

Speaking at the opening of the 1st International Congress of Graduates, attended by alumni graduated in 20 school years and intended to promote education, health and international cooperation, the official remarked that in 25 years of work ELAM has welcomed people from 498 ethnic groups who fulfilled their dream of becoming doctors and of whom more than 9,500 majored in different specialties.

Ms. Muro Valle highlighted the legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, founder of this project, which complies with its 2030 agenda, provides a quality, inclusive and egalitarian education, and boasts the category of Excellence.

“Our graduates champion human health care worldwide as true guardians of life and have contributed to the social awareness of the principle of health for all”, she underscored.

Convened by ELAM and the World Medical Association, the Congress also features the 2nd International Assembly of Affiliates, which will address topics such as primary health care, emergencies and natural disasters, postgraduate training, pedagogy in Higher Education, linking teaching and social impact and internationalization and will pay tribute to the memory of Fidel Castro, founder of the school and architect of Cuban solidarity and health collaboration.
