Havana, Nov 5 (ACN) Cuba’s National Civil Defense authorities issued a tropical storm alert (watch) Tuesday at 5 pm local time, for the central regions of Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spiritus, given the expected track of storm Rafael.
Moving at 20 kilometers per hour on the Caribbean Sea, tropical storm Rafael continued to gain organization on its course towards the Cayman Islands and to the southwestern portion of Cuba.
Rains and thunderstorms caused by the storm occurred in the eastern and central Cuban regions on Tuesday as this news article was edited. Such rainfalls will gradually affect the western portion of the island, where Rafael is expected to make landfall this Wednesday.
