HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 1 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, ratified today the conviction that problems can be overcome if one works with unity, and assured that the most recent example is the recovery in Guantanamo after hurricane Oscar.
On X, the president commented on his visits in recent days to Imias and Baracoa, in Guantanamo; to Segundo Frente, in Santiago de Cuba; to Bayamo, in Granma, and finally to Camagüey, with the militancy.
The level of recovery is impressive, said Diaz-Canel on Wednesday in Imias, and stressed that this has to do with the way in which the population has been incorporated and the way in which they have worked cooperatively.
This shows that we can go through serious, extreme situations like these, but when there is unity and when we are participating to strengthen that unity, we overcome things, he added.
In this second visit to areas severely affected by Hurricane Oscar, the head of state underscored the efforts that, along with the people, have been made by state institutions for the quick restoration of the damages, in addition to the shipment of food and medicines and other supplies destined by the country to the affected populations.
Both in Imias and Baracoa, he emphasized, the main services have been recovering, such as electricity, water and public health; there are favorable levels of food supply, in addition to the fact that national and international donations are arriving, and the population has been working hard to provide the necessary supplies to the affected population.
