Havana, Oct 28 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel headed a people’s pilgrimage on Monday to honor Cuban Revolutionary commander Camilo Cienfuegos, who died in a plane accident over the ocean shortly after the 1959 revolutionary triumph.
Every September 28th, Cubans pay tribute to Cienfuegos, who was one of the main chiefs of the revolutionary movement.
The pilgrimage started at Havana’s Revolution Square up to the city’s sea-front drive boulevard, where participants through flowers to the ocean recalling the tragic accident that took the commander’s life on October 28, 1959, at just 27 years of age.
Other Cuban leaders at the tribute-paying action included Cuban Communist Party Organization Secretary Roberto Morales, and the governor of Havana Yanet Hernandez, among other political and government officials.
