Havana, Oct 22 (ACN) The passage of storm Oscar as a Cat 1 hurricane on the eastern province of Guantanamo inflicted severe damage on the communication infrastructure particularly in the municipalities of Baracoa, Maisi, Imias and San Antonio del Sur, according to Cuba’s ETECSA Telecommunications Company.
Over 2 thousand fix telephone lines were damage, 31 percent of the total in Baracoa, along 12 mobile data base stations.
In Maisi, eight mobile telephone stations were damage and in the locality of Imias over 1500 lines were damage along seven base stations. Another 1200 telephone lines were severely impacted in San Antonio del Sur, the company reported and added that necessary resources are now on their way to back the recovery stage. lc
