HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 22 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Party's Central Committee, informed on X that the National Defense Council was convened to analyze, at 11 a.m. today, the exceptional situation the country is experiencing.
We continue monitoring the energy contingency and the damages caused by Oscar. The National Electric Power System (SEN by its Spanish acronym) is already recovering and Guantanamo will also be recovered, said the President in his message.
In this morning's update on the current energy contingency in the country, Engineer Lazaro Guerra Hernandez, Director of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), said that the recovery is progressing steadily with the strengthening of generation expected in the coming hours.
The specialist reported that during the night the stability situation in the two subsystems will be evaluated in order to assess the possible interconnection at national level and thus reconnect the SEN.
Meanwhile, the Young Communist League, student organizations and youth movements made a call to contribute and support the recovery of the damages caused by hurricane Oscar to the people of Guantanamo, where many families have lost their homes and other material goods, while agriculture, industry, communication routes and dozens of state establishments have suffered damages.
