HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 22 (ACN) The Cuban Writers and Artists Association (UNEAC by its Spanish acronym) ratified in a statement its firm conviction of being at the service of the Homeland and the vocation of social service of its members.
In its Facebook profile, the 63-year-old organization stated that in the times the nation is going through, culture and art are essential values to actively contribute to the country's recovery.
Due to its importance, the Cuban News Agency reproduces this message in its entirety.
With the commitment that has always characterized the Cuban Writers and Artists Association since its foundation in 1961, we ratify the firm conviction of being at the service of the Homeland.
In the times the nation is going through, culture and art are substantial values to actively contribute to the recovery of the country. The creators are an indispensable part of the community, of the neighborhood, of society and it is there, in the space in which their work contributes to enrich and improve the human condition and the humanist essence that we defend, where their true value lies.
The social service vocation of the “Association” has been and is a key part of the work of writers and artists. Together we can overcome obstacles and challenges through active participation in the reconstruction of communities and their cultural fabric.
The fathers of this nation bestowed on their children the highest humanist and solidarity values. The Fidel spirit of unity guides us at this moment in which creators, as President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez will affirm at the closing of the 9th Congress of UNEAC, “must be, as always, as Fidel asked in Words to Intellectuals: more than spectators, actors”.
