Storm Oscar moves very slowly over eastern Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 21 (ACN) The Institute of Meteorology reports in its Advisory No. 11 that tropical storm Oscar has moved very slowly over the eastern region of Cuba in the last few hours at a speed of just 4 kmh.

Although Oscar has weakened, it is still a tropical storm with maximum sustained winds of 85 kmh moving west and bringing thunderstorms and heavy rains across the eastern provinces, with some locations getting up to 278.0 mm.

In the coming hours, heavy rain and 70-to-85-kph winds and stronger gusts will keep hitting most of the region, as well as storm surges and coastal flooding in low-lying areas along the northern areas of the provinces of Guantanamo, Holguin and Las Tunas.
