HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 20 (ACN) According to Félix Estrada Rodríguez, director of the National Load Management Division, the Cuban Electrical Enterprise is reorganizing the power generation by regions to cope with the current difficulties facing the country’s power grid.
The strategy is already under way in several provinces, including Havana, and others will be gradually integrated into the process as units across the island are overhauled so as to join the national grid as one as soon as the usual unified system becomes operational again.
Estrada Rodríguez also remarked that the Cuban power grid has to be submitted to frequency regulation because some of its parameters are very unstable and impossible to be properly controlled.
The Cuban electrical power system crashed on Friday as a result of a sudden drop of its generation capacity, with a shortage of 900 MW at the time of the collapse.
