President of the Namibian legislature reiterates opposition to U.S. blockade

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 20 (ACN) Peter Katjavivi, president of the National Assembly of the Republic of Namibia, reiterated his condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial U.S. blockade of Cuba upon his arrival in Havana on an official visit at the head of a delegation of MPs from the sister African nation.

Ana María Mari Machado, Vice President of the Cuban Legislative, who welcomed Mr. Katjavivi at the airport, conveyed to him a warm greeting from the President of the National Assembly of People's Power and of the Council of State, Esteban Lazo Hernández, with whom he will meet, and praised his visit in the midst of the island’s difficulties with its power grid as another sign of the solidarity of the Namibian people and government.

On his end, the African official reasserted his country’s invariable solidarity with and support to Cuba, especially against the U.S. blockade, which the Namibian Parliament has described in no uncertain terms as an irrational policy rejected by the vast majority of the international community and the main obstacle to Cuba's development.
