Cuban province to host 2nd Fair on Digital Transformation

 

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Oct 1 (ACN) From Nov. 12 to 14, the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba will host the 2nd edition of the Digital Transformation Fair (Fetdi by its Spanish acronym), with the aim of training digital skills through the innovative application of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).

Yoangel Rondon, a member of the organizing committee, told the Cuban News Agency that to date more than a dozen self-employed workers and SMEs, as well as about 20 state entities have confirmed their attendance, a favorable situation because it will allow the establishment of alliances and linkages between the different forms of management.

The event will feature presentations of information and communication technology (ICT) solutions, business rounds, specialized conferences, exchange forums, services to the public and open doors, which should take place from the second day, he said.

Rondon affirmed that the theoretical sessions will focus mainly on AI as a technology that boosts digital transformation, where specialists from the Caribbean island and Mexico will share their experiences and knowledge.
For her part, Miriela Escobedo, director of informatization at the Universidad de Oriente, said that this center of higher studies will address the relevance of AI for local development.

In addition, she said that the results of the Technological Observatory of Social Development related to the territorial index of AI, a proposal to evaluate the implication of this tool in the digital transformation, will be presented.

Fetdi is organized by the Young Computer and Electronics Clubs in Santiago de Cuba and becomes an ideal space to promote economic, scientific and social development, as well as the advancement of Industry 4.0.
