Cuba welcomes world champion team at WBSC Blind Baseball World Cup 2024



HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 1 (ACN) Cuban team gold medalist at the 2nd World Cup for Blind People 2024, recently concluded in the United Kingdom returned on Monday night to the homeland with the pride of taking the crown in his debut in those competitions and put the name of Cuba at the top of the podium.

The Caribbean team was received in the Jose Marti International Airport by the vice president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder by its Spanish acronym), Ariel Sainz, who welcomed them and said: "Congratulations to all of you on behalf of the Cuban sports movement and the Cuban people for your results in this event.

He emphasized, "for us the most important thing is that in an inclusive sport you can also have the honor of representing our country in different international events and contribute with good results for our baseball".

In statements to the press Roberto Carmona, director of the Cuban representation, said that this victory is very important because our country is also very strong in baseball for the blind.

Eight teams participated in the event characterized by its high competitive level. Cuba won the title by defeating Italy in the final 2 x 1 whose team was the winner in the previous edition.
