HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 1 (ACN) The tenth month of the year is on average one of the rainiest of the year, and with it finishes that period in Cuba, announced the Climate Center of the Institute of Meteorology.
The influence of the Atlantic anticyclone decreases considerably compared to July and August, which favors its increase, along with the frequent passage of tropical waves and tropical lows, and the first frontal systems, according to its report corresponding to these 30 days.
It warned that the frequency of hurricanes affecting Cuba is the highest of the entire hurricane season, mainly in its second decade, and that associated with the direct or indirect influence of tropical cyclones, heavy rainfall events tend to occur, which largely determine the highest accumulated rainfall of the month.
However, models predict that a new AENSOS event will develop starting in October and last during the winter of 2024 - 2025 and, consequently, the institution's specialists keep a continuous watch on this climatological event and will report on its evolution in a timely manner.
As usual, in October the temperature decreases in relation to September and it is characterized by being relatively cool.
Rainfall in the western region is estimated at 222 millimeters, in the central region at 221 millimeters and in the eastern ones at 148 millimeters, while maximum temperatures are 30.5-21.0 degrees Celsius, 30.2-31.0 and 31.2-31.9 degrees Celsius, respectively.
