Western Cuba to host Turnat 2026

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Sep 30 (ACN) For its 15th edition, in 2026, the International Nature Tourism Event (Turnat) will be held in the Cuban western province of Mayabeque and the Zapata Swamp, in Matanzas.

The swamp, located south of the Matanzas territory, is the largest wetland in the insular Caribbean that harbors flora, fauna and a unique geological heritage, while Mayabeque, one of the youngest provinces of the archipelago, has places of tourist, cultural and historical interest and a large agro-industrial pole.

This was announced on Sunday by Juan Carlos Garcia Granda, Minister of Tourism, during the closing ceremony of the 14th edition of the event, which he described as a celebration of nature and sustainable tourism through the rich potential of Cuba's southeastern region.

During Turnat 2024, participants enjoyed unique experiences that brought them closer to the purest essence of the Caribbean island with tours of farms, trail explorations, photographic safaris, nautical activities, accessible tourism and hikes, he said.

Garcia Granda said that Turnat 2024 became a platform to establish ties and new projects that will have an impact on the development of the sector in the Caribbean nation.

The minister urged the growth of the nature tourism modality so that more and more travelers get to know Cuba's authentic wonders and that this branch is an example of sustainability and harmony with the environment.

He recognized the role of the eastern region and especially the provinces of Santiago de Cuba, Granma and Guantanamo, which made available to participants 85 destinations that show that the country is more than a land of sun and beach.
Turnat is a meeting organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Ecotur S.A. Travel Agency.
