NUEVA GERONA, Cuba, Sep 26 (ACN) The workers of the electric company strengthened the work of repairing damages in the nine affected distribution circuits, managing to restore service to 99.8% of customers in just 24 hours, after the passage of Hurricane Helene.
Ignacio Luis Moya Alvarez, director of the Base Dispatch Business Unit, informed the Cuban News Agency that 7,613 customers lost service due to the heavy rains and gusts of wind caused by the fifth hurricane of the season, category one on the Saffir-Simpson scale.
Thanks to the quick response of the network personnel, as well as the support provided by the technical staff, it was possible to reestablish service in the affected circuits. “We expect to fully repair the damages in the next few hours, including the 97 circuits classified as complex failures”, the engineer pointed out.
Fallen tree branches were the main cause of the power line failures, but the skill and experience of the sector's workers were essential to solve these problems quickly and reestablish the service, he added.
