HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 27 (ACN) Cuba has been working with coherence and precision in confronting Hurricane Helene, said Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, on X.
In his message, the president said that on Thursday afternoon he checked the situation with each affected province.
The Head of State indicated to act quickly in the recovery of the electrical damages and confirmed that the necessary resources are available.
Hurricane Helene, although it did not touch land in Cuba, did leave rains that affected mainly the west of the country.
In information posted on the institutional page of the Electricity Company of the westernmost province of Pinar del Rio in the social network Facebook, according to preliminary data more than 50,000 customers are without service due to heavy rains and gusts of winds from the tropical storm.
The main damages are identified in the municipalities to the south of the province, mainly in the electric infrastructure and agriculture, the latter still unquantified. The rest of the sectors had minimal damages, Yamile Ramos Cordero, first secretary of the PCC in the territory, said.
