Cuba issues early warning on hydrometeorological situation

 HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 24 (ACN) Cuban Civil Defense issued today an early warning on the hydrometeorological situation in the Western and Central regions, related to a low-pressure area located in the Caribbean Sea

The statement refers that heavy and strong rainfalls are expected, and depending on the evolution and future trajectory of this system, winds may increase and coastal flooding may begin in low lying areas of the southern coast of the western region.
According to the Forecast Center of the Meteorological Institute, this area of low pressure is still disorganized, but could become a tropical cyclonic system in the next few hours.

Taking into account this situation and the potential risk it represents, special attention should be paid to its evolution and increase hydrometeorological surveillance and if necessary take specific measures in each territory to avoid affecting the population and the resources of the economy, the Civil Defense emphasizes.

It also advises the population to remain attentive to the information provided by the Institute of Meteorology and the Civil Defense, through the media and official profiles on social networks, as well as to comply with the instructions given by local authorities and the rules of conduct to avoid loss of life.
